Hello Cathy and Ronda,
So, tell me, what do you think of this site?

Hello, Just looking for now. Hope this will become a place to go for some support. Charlene

Don’t really care for the different catagories to respond to. It was nice before that it was just an email format. And it doesn’t seem that people are going to use this site since it only looks like Cathy & myself are the only ones besides you who have posted.

Ronda, does this go through to your e-mail, or do you have to access it like I do..through saving in favorites? I asked Denise about that, but I didn’t get an answer. I’m thinking maybe it goes through to her e-mail because she is a moderator.
April 13th, 2007 at 5:20 am
Denise, I have to agree with Ronda. I don’t really care to have so many catagories. I think it needs to follow the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple [I'm Stupid] rules.
I do think that if/when this is the only place to post, you will probably see some more activity, but you gotta admit, there isn’t usually a lot of activity at the yahoo site, either.
Also, I don’t see where people would be able to post pictures. I DO think it is good for the business side for current and prospective patients to be able to see how everyone is progressing as well as to put a face with a name.
Also, (I’m on a roll, here) with the other site, you can send a PRIVATE e-mail to others if you have something you want to discuss without making it public. Can you do that here??
Just kicking it around,
Cathy

Didn’t I answer? I am sorry…
I was trying to read it to see if others can get it straight through their email… let us know Ronda ?

I do not get anything thru my email. I have to come here and to be honest I don’t think about it all the time to check this one.
April 13th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
Oh and I also don’t really care for the fact that once you send a comment there doesn’t seem to be a way to get back to the “home” page.

Hi! I just found the new weblog site. I hope I’m doing this correctly… This is so great! We now have our own surgical center blog! I was at a seminar at the clinic this evening and Dr. Billing told me about this. The seminar was really fun and informative. It brought back memories of a year ago January when I was one of those people sitting and gathering info, trying to make one of the biggest decisions of my life. So glad I did! I think at least 5 people asked me if it hurts to get a fill and I, who am deathly afraid of needles, said no, it doesn’t hurt a bit…and it wasn’t a lie! There was one woman there who said that two of her friends had lapbands inserted last year and neither one is doing very well with the band. She said they have no support system, no nutritionist, nothing… It’s sad that there are places out there doing this surgery and then just kind of “throwing” the patient out there with no support to help them along. We’re so blessed… Anyway, glad I found the new site. Have a great rest of the week! :0) Allison

Okay, Denise - I’m confused. How to I post? I just replied to SOMETHING but I don’t see my post here???
April 17th, 2007 at 10:21 pm
Okay, I THINK I might be understanding this. We “leave a reply” to post?? Oh, brother! I’ll get it yet… :0) Allison

Hi all! This is Joy from the clinic. I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself and pose a question. Are there people out there who would be interested in having a quesiton and answer session with me or the doctors?
I also was at the seminar last night - it was a great group. I was glad to be a part of the group sharing the excitement and positives of weight loss surgery. If you don’t know me - I had bypass surgery last March. Anyway, let me know if you think a Q&A would be a good thing.

From the number of posts there seems to be a little misunderstanding as to what a blog does and how it is to serve. First of all, a blog is not a pure message board. Even though it allows for comments and messages it does not allow the free posting of topics from non-editors. The blog has been provided as a means to add relevant, informative and up-to-date content to the website for the people it serves, however, the moderator or editor has to post the discussion first from which people can respond, contribute, add-to or comment. For those of you who wish to become editors you can contact Denise or Tico and then they can relay the information to me the (silent administrator) and I’ll set you up. (A trust factor must be established first before free reign is assigned to anyone as it reflects upon the character of this website).
An editor can then post their own discussions, upload and post images, movies, etc.
For a complete manual of how to use wordpress you can read from the wordpress website.
Thank you.

From what Dan posted here, it seems I’m still a little confused about what we’re to use this blog for. Aren’t we here to try to help, encourage and support others who are going through the same experiences? When I’m searching a site for informaton I want to find the most honest and helpful info out there and would hope to find the experiences of others in like situations on the sites I search. We have a a whole range of experiences, good and bad, that people need to see when they are searching for answers. If only editors can post and the only replies are pertaining to those posts, not everyone will be represented. Sorry…that’s just the way I feel. I know that we all want a good representation for PSSC - it’s the best out there in my opinion! But others need to know WHY we feel that way…

HI JOY! It was good to see you at the seminar last night and I for one, would find it very helpful to have a nurse available here to answer questions or just post helpful hints from time to time. The staff of PSSC has always been very helpful to us and I think it’s great that you guys actually read our emails (and now our blogs!). Thanks for offering to help… :0) Allison
P.S. I hope others start coming over here soon or all you’ll see are the same people posting over and over and over and over and o….. :0) A.

Thanks for the welcome! I, too, hope others come here. I will be checking in at least once per day. Also, I will start reminding people that this blog exists when the come into the clinic.
Oh - I don’t mind seeing the same people over and over again, either. I’ll see a couple of you at tonight’s seminar, right?

It really seems that everyone wants an open and free message board system to post to and the ability to create their own topics, similar to what you had with the Yahoo groups. So I implemented a message board system, which will allow you to do just that. It’s quite powerful in that you can see who’s on line and you have the ability to private chat between users. It support emotioncons and avatars (character images that distinguishes a user). It does require setting up a new username and password as it’s database is not linked with the blogging database so you will need to re-register within the message board web page to post. Once done you will never have to do this again. It’s easily bookmarked from any of the puget sound surgical website pages at the bottom called message boards. Once on the message board it has an extensive FAQ’s page that can help you use the new system. The only draw back with the message board system is that it doesn’t automatically notify you once an update or posting has been made so you will need to come back often to see if new postings have been made.

Yeah Dan!!! So glad to hear this. I hope you don’t mind but I’m going to copy and paste this onto our Yahoo board so everyone will get the message. Thank you!!!

Hey Joy, it’s Crystal… of Brian and Crystal. I didn’t know you had WLS - you look awesome! Congrats on your WL.
The Q&A session - are you talking virtual? If you opened a thread for Q&A’s, I think that would be great! Personally, I wouldn’t be up for finding a babysitter and arranging transportation to actually go somewhere, but it would still be nice to have a couple of my silly little questions answered.
April 30th, 2007 at 7:33 pm
there are no silly questions !! Ask away… a host of people will give their thoughts and suggestions….
Sitting here waiting !
